MARTIN HIGH 3G PITCH COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

CONTEXT & RATIONALE

The demand for artificial training facilities in the area remains high and this is detailed in the Charnwood Local Football Facilities Plan. This plan (commonly known as the LLFP), which was updated in 2025, states that four additional 3G pitches are required to meet the demand in Charnwood. Martin High School has been identified as one of the priority locations within the LLFP and accordingly the school has been selected to submit a funding application to the Football Foundation. 

For a number of years now, during poor weather, school and club football training and matches have had to be cancelled. This results in children, young people and the wider community missing out on vital fitness training, participation and development of key social skills. 

 

OPPORTUNITY

With 40 teams, Anstey Nomads Football Club is one of the largest football clubs in the local area and would be one of the main beneficiaries of the project. Most of its junior players live in the Anstey area and nearby villages, with a significant number currently attending Martin High School. 

Martin High School educates approximately 800 children who will directly benefit from using the facility on a daily basis during term time. Some of these children will also benefit through use of the 3G pitch for school football team training and matches. 

The wider Anstey community would also benefit from greater engagement with exercise across all ages and demographics. 

 

PROPOSAL

A full-sized, floodlit 3G pitch (with a playing area of 91 x 55m) would be located to the rear of the sports hall (see map for exact positioning). This project would potentially be jointly funded by the Football Foundation, Anstey Nomads FC and Lionheart Educational Trust. 

When: Tuesday 13th October 2026
Time: 5.30pm to 7.30pm (Short presentation to commence at 6pm)
Where: Martin High School, Sports Hall

 

FACILITIES

A full-sized, floodlit 3G football pitch would be constructed. The pitch can also be split into halves and quarters for multiple training sessions and matches. 

The pitch would be serviced by:

  • Existing changing room facilities within Martin High School Sports Hall
  • Existing car parking provision on site

 

ENGAGEMENT

We invite you to attend the engagement evening and to share your views on this exciting opportunity for the school and local communities. The engagement evening has been arranged with representatives from all key partners, so that we can hear your feedback on the proposed scheme.
