Learners Take Part in Trust Sports Performance Day

A group of Year 10 learners recently represented Martin High School at a Sports Performance and Careers Day hosted by Lionheart Educational Trust.

Held at Sir Jonathan North Girls' College, the event brought together 150 students from across the Trust's secondary schools for a day designed to develop new skills and broaden understanding of careers in sport.

Learners took part in a carousel of activities, including boxing, pickleball and spikeball, working collaboratively and embracing the opportunity to try something different. The sessions encouraged learners to develop confidence, teamwork and communication while remaining active throughout the day.

One of the standout moments was an inspiring presentation from former Olympian Sonia Samuels. Learners learned about her journey to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and discovered the many specialist roles that contribute to an athlete's success, from coaching and sports science to nutrition and physiotherapy.

Our learners were a credit to our school and fully embraced the opportunity to learn from new experiences. The day provided valuable insight into the world of sport and highlighted the many exciting pathways available within the industry.
